The Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems field of study has evolved into its present form by incorporating rapid advancement in technology and its application. Starting from a research program it has become a recognized education, training and research program satisfying the need of the region for state-of-the-art technology. Students are exposed on advance concepts of Remote Sensing, GIS, Synthetics Aperture Radar, Mobile Mapping, GNSS, Advanced Mapping technologies, Web Map Services, Sensor Networks, Geospatial Big data processing.

Topic: Evolution of Sliding Spectrum Analysis and Synchronization Techniques

P. Sumathi is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, where she has been since 2011. Prior to this, she served as an Assistant Professor in Department of Information and Communication Technology,
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gujarat, India from Nov., 2009 to Aug., 2011. She received B.E from S.R.M Engineering College, Chennai in 1996, and M.E from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai in 2002. She received her Ph.D.
in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai in 2009. From 1997 to 2005, she worked eventually as a Lecturer.

Her research interests span over synchronization techniques, parameter estimation, sliding spectrum analysis, multi-component AM-FM decomposition, and instrumentation. Much of her work has been focused on developing sliding filter based synchronization techniques for various appli-cations and implementing them as system-on-chip devices with FPGA. These applications include ultrasonic range finder, vibration measurement, capacitance measurement and flexible-link manip-culator control. In addition, she has also explored the seismic signals attribute extraction through time-frequency representation for damage detection of buildings.

She has published more than twenty research articles in reputed journals such as IEEE and IET. She has guided 2 PhDs and 18 Master’s students. She is a Senior Member of IEEE and reviewer for IEEE transactions. She has completed projects funded by DST, DRDO, and BARC in control
and signal processing algorithms. She has organized two courses on biomedical signal and image processing under MHRD scheme of Global Initiative of Academic Networks. I will introduce a new computational paradigm for spectrum analysis, which leads to the advantage of incorporating sliding spectrum filters in the design of synchronization techniques.

About the Speakers

Dr. Somsak Wathanaprida is currently the Director of Environment Geology Section, Department of Mineral Resources, Bangkok, Thailand and has served several divisions of this department from last 21 years. He holds a PhD degree in Environmental science obtained from University of East Angelia, Norwich, UK. He is double masters in Marine sciences and Oceanography from Kasetsart University, Thailand and Old Dominion University, US respectively.

Mr. Chanist Prasetbunakul is the Aerospace Digital Mapping Department Manager in GIS Co. Ltd. He also serves as a guest lecturer of Photogrammetry for Geography at Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Previously, he also served ESRI Thailand for 6 years. His Master’s degree is from Mahidol University, Thailand and Bachelors from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

Mr. Songkorn Siangsuebchart is a Senior GIS Technical Consultant in GIS Co. Ltd. He is currently a PhD student in Remote Sensing and GIS Field of Study in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
